8 Former Military Officers Wanted in Connection With Alleged Murder of Col. Ndure Cham

8 Soldiers are wanted by the Inspector General of Police in connection with the alleged murder of Colonel Ndure Cham.

The eight accused persons namely, Lt. Col Nuha Badjie, Major Momodou Jarju, Captain Michael Jatta, WO1 Nfansu Nyabally, Staff Sergeant Sulayman Sambou, WO2 Malick Manga and Corporal Saikouba Jarju, were charged in absentia on Thursday before the Banjul Magistrates’ Court on two charges of conspiracy to murder and murder, contrary to laws of The Gambia 2009.

Count two, indicated that the eight accused sometimes in the year 2013 at Tintinba Forest in the Fonis, West Coast Region of the Republic of The Gambia; with malice aforethought, jointly and unlawfully caused the death of Ndure Cham by shooting him with a gun and buried his carcass at Tintinba Forest, thereby committed an offence. Inspector Saja Sanyang informed the court that all the accused persons are at large and that he was applying under Section 69 Sub-section B of the Criminal Code for an arrest warrant to be issued against all the eight accused.

At that juncture, Magistrate Isatou Janneh-Njie granted the both applications and order for the immediate arrest of all accused persons and also transferred the case to the High Court.
