Gambia national team plays in Lomé in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Friday October 12th with the game kicking off at 16:00 GMT (4pm).
For this purpose, the Gambian coach has released a list of players. Most of them were already part of the last game against Algeria. However, Tom Saintfiet, left out Omar Colley of Sampdoria, Bubacarr Trawally who is in China and Modou Barrow, who plays for Reading in the English championship.
“The people who were there (against Algeria), we must be honest, they were very motivated and disciplined. It would be unfair as a coach to not recognize that, to not respect that and to drop those who showed me as a new coach that they are ready to fight and die for the country. ” explained Saintfiet to the BBC.
Atlanta’s Musa Barrow and FC Metz winger Ablie Jallow are both called for the second time. Mohamed Badamosi and Muhammed Mbye were summoned for the first time.
The match, earlier scheduled to take place at the 30,000-capacity Stade de Kégué, was shifted to the Stade Municipal, a multipurpose stadium known for its artificial turf.
Gambia is third in Group D with one point with Togo, while Algeria and Benin are co-leaders with four points.
