Ebou Bojang, an uncle to Babucarr Badjie, who was charged with stealing before magistrate Abeke of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, has made an undertaking that the family members of the accused person would stop threatening prosecutor Kebba Fadera that they would take his life.
This development followed a complaint made by Mr. Fadera in an interview with the ‘Daily Observer’ that he had received numerous death threats over the prosecution of the case. Ebou Bojang stated in an affidavit that he has authority of the accused person and family to depose the affidavit on behalf of the accused, adding that the accused is his nephew.
The affidavit indicated that the defence counsel, Pa Harry Jammeh, has conduct of the case on behalf of the accused and that Mr. Bojang is familiar with the facts of the case. Mr. Bojang further stated in the affidavit that on 21 March 2017, the ‘Daily Observer’ ran a publication of an interview it had with prosecutor Fadera in the matter that he received death threats over the prosecution of the case.
He added that prosecutor Fadera feels uncomfortable to continue with the prosecution of the case.
The affidavit indicated that this has prompted the court to express a desire of wanting to transfer the case to the High Court.
