The Gambia’s Junior Scorpions have on Wednesday July 19th arrived in Bamako Mali to contest for progression to the next phase of the CHAN qualifiers as they brace up to face off their Malian equivalents over the weekend in Bamako.
The team buoyed by their goal less draw result in Banjul a week ago, are poised to make amends as Coach Alagi Sarr is optimistic of securing an away goal in Bamako and thus posing dilemma for the hosts. The Gambian team upon arrival on Wednesday morning, took to the training ground for a recovery session before continuing to acclimatize with the local weather conditions in Bamako.
‘We are in good shape and the boys are still in high spirit. We are not distracted and the boys are ready to give out what it takes to qualify the country to the next phase’.
The Gambia will take on the outright winner between Mauritania and Liberia for the next stage of the Qualifier if they cross the hurdle over Mali. Meanwhile Mauritania are currently on a 2 nil aggregate over Liberia in the first leg played in Monrovia. Their return leg is also bill for the weekend in Nouakchott.
The Gambia plays on Saturday July 22nd in Bamako against their hosts Mali.
