Civic movement Power of Freedom has offered mosquito bed nets to 50 families as part of the Malaria Free Summer initiative kicked off on August 20th.
About 50 families in Tallinding Kunjang, which is the first amongst the targeted communities to benefited from the Malaria Free Summer. More than half of the mosquito bed nets were distributed among pregnant women and children between the ages of two(2) to five (5).
Gambian artist St Singhateh took part in the distribution along with members and volunteers. The first day of the initiative which aims to assist communities affected by malaria especially during the summer, was qualified as a great success.
In addition to distributing mosquito nets to needy communities, Power of Freedom will also distribute medical supplies and first aid kits to community hospitals as part of the Malaria Free Summer initiative.
The civic movement calls for donation to purchase the bed nets, medical supplies and first aid kits to provide a better help to population and kick malaria out of the Gambia.
