A suspected drug trafficker who is standing trial before the Brikama Magistrates’ Court has been granted D10, 000 bail by Magistrate Leyon, yesterday.
The magistrate ordered that the bail condition for Muhammed Lamin Dahaba includes his provision of one Gambian surety, who must deposit his or her valid national identity card with the court registrar.
Dahaba is accused of being in possession of 40 grams of cannabis sativa on 27th November, 2016 in Brikama, contrary to Section 35(2) (A) of the 2003 Drug Control Act.
Magistrate Leyon said she granted bail to Dahaba because, he was a family man and he had been very respectful to the court. The granting of bail to him, was therefore, not objected by the drug prosecutor, NCA2 Korta.
The case is adjourned to 27th March for testimony of the second prosecution witness.
