Ex-NIA case: Court to rule on summons on notice

Justice Kumba Sillah-Camara of the Banjul High Court yesterday adjourned the case involving nine former officials of the National Intelligent Agency (NIA), for ruling on summons on notice the Point GM reported

The nine officials are Yankuba Badjie, former director general of the NIA, Louie Richard Leese Gomez, Saikou Omar Jeng, Baboucarr Sallah, Yusupha Jammeh, Haruna Susso, Tamba Mansaray, Lamin Darboe and Lamin Lang Sanyang.

They are charged with 12 counts of criminal offences of conspiracy to murder, murder, assaults causing actual bodily harm, conspiracy to commit misdemeanor, forgery and making documents without authority.

When the matter was called, A. Adeyimi and O. Danso appeared for the state while counsels U. Achigbue, P. Gomez, M.B Johnson Richards, S. Kennedy and D. Dago represented the defendants.

The trial judge, Justice Kumba Sillah-Camara, then informed the crowded courtroom that the matter was slated for mention.

She said she would adjourn the case until 2 May 2017, for ruling on the summons on notice that was argued before her by both sides.

The accused were then remanded at Mile 2 Central Prisons.
