Gambia and Qatar signed a grant agreement worth $3m around 148 365 000,00 Dalasi in Banjul to promote transitional justice, the rule of law and the establishment of a comprehensive system of democracy in Gambia.
Qatar ambassador to Gambia Faisal bin Fahad al-Mana and Gambian Minister of Agriculture Lamin Dibba, on behalf of the Minister of Finance, signed the agreement.
Ambassador al-Mana explained that the Qatari support for Gambia came in fulfilment of its commitment to the new government of Gambia during the donor conference in Brussels in May. He stressed that the two countries will strengthen their co-operation in the coming years in support of the distinguished bilateral relations for the benefit of the two friendly peoples.
The ambassador said that the relations between Qatar and Gambia have made significant progress recently in several fields. He pointed out that several agreements have been signed in the field of double taxation, employment and maritime navigation. Dibba thanked Qatar praising its financial and moral support for Gambian democratic process. Gambian Attorney General and Minister of Justice Abubacarr Tambadou, Gambian Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Lamin Camara, and Gambian Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Ada Gaye attended the signing ceremony.
