Gambian Fire Officer Shot After Heated Dispute With Neighbouring Villagers of Senegal

Ansumana Drammeh, an officer of The Gambia Fire and Rescue Services (GFRS) who was posted in Bansang in the Central River Region (CRR) has been shot in his legs by neighbouring villagers of Senegal around Jahanka village in the Upper Fulladou District, as he was mediating to settle a dispute.

Drammeh was rushed to the Bansang hospital for medical care, however, he was referred to Banjul for further treatment. The incident resulted from a fight between border villages of Kerr-Yerro and Jahanka.

The culprit has been arrested in attempt to run into Senegal, the Point reporter says quoting sources. He was detained at the Bansang Police Station as investigation continues.

The spokesperson of The Gambia Fire and Rescue Services (GFRS) Muhammed Drammeh, confirmed the development to our reporter, while describing the incident as unfortunate.
