Tombong Tamba a senior communication officer working in Banjul at Gamtel the state-owned telephone company, has been arrested by SIS for reportedly communicating with one of the members of Jammeh’s entourage in Equatorial Guinea Smbc news reported.
The Gamtel agent was arrested by the state secret agents, detained for questioning and later released, according to the online news site. Tamba told investigators that he was in contact with his wife, whose mother was sick and had passed recently. He has been suspended from work while investigations into his calls to Equatorial Guinea are ongoing.
Tamba’s wife, whose name has not been disclosed was among dozens of people that fled the country with Jammeh following his shocking loss in last year’s polls.
