In an effort to sanitize the security sector, President Barrow’s government has effected a major shake-up at the Gambia Police Force (GPF) and the Gambia Immigration Department (GID) respectively.
The shake-up which took place yesterday morning, show the sacking of the Deputy Inspector General of Police Momodou Sowe, who is replaced by Commissioner Mamour Jobe. Commissioner Jobe was recently moved to Kairaba Police as the Commissioner for Kanifing Municipality.
He has served in the police force for more than thirty years. He was earlier posted at the Gambia Police Training School in Yundum as Commissioner and head of the training school for many years.
In another development, Buba Sanyang alias Zil, the erstwhile director general of the Gambia Immigration Department, who was sacked by former President Yahya Jammeh in November 2013, has bounced back.
He replaced Pa Baboucarr Mboob, former director general of GID. Mr Sanyang received his appointment letter today from the Personnel Management Office.
