No less than six robbers entered a drug store in Essau in Lower Niumi., where the watchman was beaten to unconsciousness reported Smbc News.
The men were armed with machine guns, according to villagers and newspaper reports. The police backed by West African troops stabilizing the security in the country arrived after the robbers have fled.
The same robbers are suspecting of attacking the border town of Fass. Police reportedly did not have enough gas to rush to the scene of the crime.
Gambia’s internal security chief, Mai Ahmad Fatty had said last month that the police have less than two gallons in their patrol vehicles and unable to be at all places. He urged citizens to push legislators to appropriate more finances to the police.
