Pa Sallah Jeng Returns to Politics to Run for Mayor of Banjul

Former mayor of banjul Pa Sallah Jeng has confirmed his return to politics to run for mayor of Banjul by a message posted on his facebook timeline on wednesday.

Pa Sallah Jeng said he feels obliged to honor the call of thousands of his supporters, sympathisers and friend who have been litteraly flooding his phone with messages and even posts on social media to ask for his return. ” I want to thank all of them very sincerely, from the bottom of my heart. For the trust and confidence they have in me. I promise I will do my best if elected. Again if elected I look forward to work in harmony with the new Gambia, hand in gloves. ” Mr Jeng said

Mr. Jeng has been living in exile in the US since 2007 after he encountered numerous ordeal from the dictatorial regime of Yahya Jammeh. On 25 April 2002, Jeng won the local elections as an independent candidate, defeating his rival candidate Emmanuel Williams of ARPC. On August 19, 2005, Pa Sallah Jeng was suspended and accused of corruption and abuse of Office. Accusation which was later on proven to be false and on October 24, 2007, Jeng was acquitted on all counts, the indictment against him could not be proven according to the Court.
