General Massanneh Kinteh the Chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces, has effected some changes in the army hierarchy and replaced all the camp commanders across the country as part of his reforms.

According to military sources, all former commanders are to report to Defence Headquarters on the 17th July 2017.  The chief intelligent officer of the army has been also changed but sources can’t confirm by who.

Col. Essa Tamba the commander of Fajara Barack, is now replaced by Lt Col Yerro Jallow to be assisted by Major Seedia Danso.

Col. Sait Njie, commander of Yundum Barack, is now replaced by Lt Col Babucarr Sanyang to be assisted by Major Abdoulie Manneh.

Col. Salifu Bojang commander of Farafenni Barack, is now replaced by Lt Col Samba Baldeh to be assisted by Major Ebrima Krubally.

Basse camp is now upgraded to a battalion status. Lt Col Pierre Mendy is the new commander to be assisted by Major Boto Touray

Kanilai camp is also upgraded to a battalion status. Lt Col Sarjo Jarju is the new commander to be assisted by Major Wassa Camara.

While The Gambia Police Force has effected a minor reshuffle at the Police Headquarters in Banjul on Monday, 3rd July, 2017.

Police Commissioner Demba K. Sowe has been appointed as the new Crime Management Coordinator (CMC). He replaces Deputy Commissioner Buba Sarr, who has been demoted to Deputy CMC.

Commissioner Sowe has once occupied the position of CMC briefly when Musa Mboob was IGP in 2007. He was fired following his misunderstanding with ex-IGP Mboob and he later got reinstated at the NIA. Sowe was also moved from the NIA back to the Police as Commissioner of Administration, replacing Commissioner Abdoulie Sanyang at that time. Sanyang too was sacked but he later bounced back recently after the change of government, as Commissioner for Police Administration.

When Commissioner Sanyang bounced back, Commissioner Sowe was moved to the Interpol until yesterday when he got his appointment as the new CMC.

Meanwhile, former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Modou Gaye who was recently reinstated as Commissioner for Policy and Planning, is now appointed as the new Chief of Operations at the Gambia Police Force.

He also replaced Landing Bojang who has been demoted and is now appointed as Officer Commanding Banjul Division. Landing Bojang also replaced Commissioner Ebrima Cham.

It would be recalled that Modou Gaye was jailed by former President Yahya Jammeh alongside with the former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Lang Tombong Tamba and 7 others, for their alleged involvement in the alleged 2009 coup plot.

In a similar development, Pateh Bah, former Deputy CMC is now Officer Commanding Airport, whilst Abdoulie Sanneh is now appointed OC of the Interpol.
