Scorpions Lose Heavily to Ghana in Friendly

The Black Stars Team B triumphed 2-1 over Gambia’s Scorpions on Wednesday in an international friendly played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts of Oak midfielder, Thomas Abbey, put Ghana in the lead in the 54th minute but Gambia pulled even in the 74th minute through Lamin Jallow. 3 minutes later, Tema Youth’s Joseph Paintsil was fouled for a penalty which was converted by goalkeeper Razak Abalora to give Ghana the win on the day

Striker Lamin Jallow’s lone goal in the game was eventually proved to be a consolation goal for the Scorpions, who are currently in Accra, Ghana for a five-day training camp in preparation for their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations opener against Benin on Sunday 11 June 2017.

The friendly match was part of the Scorpions preparations for AFCON qualifying match away to their fellow West Africans this weekend.

Coach Sang Ndong and his charges are set to leave Accra, Ghana on Friday 9 June 2017 for Cotonou for their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers opener against Benin on Sunday 11 June 2017, at the Mathew Keriko Stadium in Cotonou, Benin informed the point gm.
