Neighbouring country Senegal today announced the banning of public smoking.
The order, from the french speaking country’s government, will begin to take effect this Saturday August 26th.
The announcement made by Senegal’s health minister Awa Marie Coll Seck, was greeted with mixed feelings but the Macky Sall leadership remains unmoved on going ahead with the banning.
In Gambia, the bill to outlaw public smoking was passed by deputies years ago but the law enforcement agency has been lackadaisical if not relaxed about implementing the order. So will Gambia follow in Senegal’s example now?
