Yahya Jammeh unveiled us details about “Painful Exile”, debut album of his new career as an artist. A mixture of Afropop and Gambian sounds with deep, but sometimes violent texts.
Back under the spotlight. The former strongman of Banjul unveiled details about “Painful Exile”. The album will be released in January 2018. It retraces the areer history of the former Gambian president, currently in exile in Malabo, in Equatorial Guinea.
Yahya Jammeh doesn’t do things halfway, for his debut, he will be surrounded by of Rihanna, Fally Ipupa or Davido. The themes inside including the pain of exile, the loss of the benefits associated with the Presidential Office, or even revenge.
Reached by telephone by Sunugambia editorial boards , the artist insists on the artistic quality of his work: “since my rushed departure of my country, I got a little bit bored. So, I figured that writing songs would be a good way to kill time. And there, I had a divine revelation. This album is not only my work but a revelation.”
The artist also announced his next African tour for the launch of the new album, he already sees as a global success. “If Westerners don’t throw a spanner in the works and with the help of God, this album will sell at least 10 million copies”, he says.
